Tucker Program: Habitat for Humanity, SEAD
History with Tucker: "I volunteered with SEAD and started volunteering for Habitat for Humanity my sophomore year. I became a Habitat Chair junior year, and now this year I have been the student director."
What Tucker Means to Me: "Tucker is a huge resource. Without the Tucker Foundation acting as an organizational umbrella for so many service programs on campus, students would be lacking in so many important volunteer opportunities."
Local Service at the William Jewett Tucker Foundation strives to make real the ideal that learning through service to others is at the heart of a liberal arts experience. Through more than 40,000 hours of service annually, over 1,000 Dartmouth students are engaged as learners and citizens in responsible and challenging service that fosters leadership for social change and civic improvement. As a forum for questioning and reflecting, as well as a springboard for action, Local Service at the Tucker Foundation is a dynamic evolving organization made up of student-managed, collaborative projects serving in the areas of child and youth mentoring, food and shelter, educational enrichment, and community health and fitness.
