Haven Homework Club

Program Description

The Upper Valley Haven, located in White River Junction, VT, provides temporary shelter and educational programming for homeless families and adults as well as food and clothing to anyone in need.

The Haven Homework Club provides tutoring assistance to children of families who do or have received services at the Haven. The goal of the Homework Club is to provide a safe, nurturing environment that encourages and supports children while they complete their homework. While each tutor volunteers a minimum of one time per week, the program schedules the volunteer tutors to provide coverage at the facility at least 4 days per week.

  • A mandatory orientation session at the beginning of your first term volunteering with the Haven HW Club
  • Requires a once per week, afternoon commitment
  • An additional 2-3 hours per term for discussion, training and reflection meetings

Transportation
