Whether you are studying, teaching, or working at Dartmouth, or are new to the area, and are seeking out a worshipping community in the Upper Valley, we want you to know that the community of faith at Our Savior Lutheran Church and Student Center looks forward to welcoming you. We are served by pastors Susan and Michael Thomas [bios].
Our congregation was founded in 1955 primarily to serve the students, staff, and faculty of Dartmouth College, but from its beginning it invited residents of local communities. We are a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. While our heritage is distinctively Lutheran, probably half of our active participants have come from other Christian traditions, which has deepened our commitment to ecumenism. Social ministry and justice, neighbor care, and a global vision are woven into our fabric, whether it involves members carrying suppers to other ailing members, providing Community Dinners, quilting for Lutheran World Relief, or raising money for a college scholarship for a Palestinian Lutheran student. Our Savior Lutheran Church and Student Center has been a Covenant Congregation with Bread for the World as well as a Reconciled in Christ congregation since 1993.
Students have always been a vital part of the OSLC. Sunday noon lunch is served at The Parsonage, our new "home away from home" for students and young adults (2 Brook Road, 3 blocks down the hill from Video Stop on Main St.). Matt and Monte Peterson, our young adult ministers, live at The Parsonage and are making it a gathering point for delicious food and stimulating conversation. Contact Monte or Matt Peterson, at 643-4328 or lutheran.center@dartmouth.edu for more information.
