The Foundation's Social Concerns programs attempts to cultivate the soul of the Tucker Foundation through dialogue, lectureships, and presentations. The Social Justice Lectureship is one of the key components of this program. The Tucker Foundation sponsored the first lecture in its Social Justice Lectureship Series on Sunday, February 10th, 2002. The purpose of this series is to provide a public forum for dialogue and debate focusing on contemporary social issues, including human rights, poverty, racism, sexism, violence, war and peace, environmental sustainability, and the economy. Within this series, the Tucker Foundation hosts nationally prominent figures that champion social justice causes in today's society. Following the lectures, students and community members have the opportunity to interact with the speakers. This lectureship series is part of the Foundation's commitment to fostering civic leadership in Dartmouth's students, preparing them to live as thoughtful, active, and compassionate citizens who embrace both local and global responsibility.
