Teaching is not a lost art, but the regard for it is a lost tradition. -Jacques Barzun
At the Tucker Foundation, we believe in the importance of teaching and in showing regard for educators. As a result of this belief, and this desire to rekindle the tradition of appreciating excellence, the Tucker Foundation is introducing the Clement Road Forum for Faculty, where faculty members can socialize and discuss the events relevant to issues of our day.
The forum will provide attractive opportunities for faculty to discuss with other campus leaders topics of special concern to the campus community in an effort to enhance student learning and to develop informed campus leaders, and shall meet on the second or third Thursday of each term from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM at the home of the Tucker Foundation Dean, at 2 Clement Road, Hanover, NH.
Our objectives are:
- To enhance the Tucker Foundation's dialogues and collaboration with the Dartmouth faculty
- To enrich educational and leadership development experience for students, administrators and faculty
- To encourage faculty members to discuss across disciplinary boundaries topics of urgent concern to our community and to liberal education in general
- To cultivate and encourage variety in perspectives, pedagogies and critical inquiry
- To promote the development, by teams of faculty, administrators and students, of academic, experiential and service education ideas and programs
Upcoming Clement Forum events are planned for the following dates:
- January 19, 2006: Community-Based Research & Service Learning
- April 13, 2006: Diversity across the Curriculum
- July 13, 2006: Religion and Politics
