Each department and office of the Tucker Foundation, through its advising
and initiatives works to:
- Ensure a personalized educational experience for students in the liberal
arts tradition, relevant to the times.
- Develop Dartmouth students as ethical leaders engaged in some level of
service.
- Foster Dartmouth students' ability to be more fully self-aware and hold a
respect for their own responsibilities to the global community.
- Help Dartmouth students find inspiration and a purpose greater than solely
oneself.

More than the hard skills that I’ve taken away from the Tucker
Foundation, the job skills, leadership skills, medical skills working on the
Cross Cultural Education Service program in Nicaragua I think more than
anything the Tucker Foundation has challenged my perspective, my world

Student Initiated Programs
Sophomore Summer of Service
Because of Dartmouth College's unique 'D-Plan', all rising Juniors are
required to take classes the summer after their Sophomore year; this term is
called 'Sophomore Summer.' There are currently two intensive Sophomore Summer
projects that together comprise the Sophomore Summer of Service: Habitat for
Humanity and Summer Enrichment at Dartmouth (SEAD).
