Title: Civic Intern Webmaster

Position Purpose
The Tucker Foundation is searching for a student to maintain the Tucker
website and a number of related web applications. This is a paid position
through the civic intern program. Civic Interns are usually one term
appointments with occasional opportunity for renewal based upon successful
performance.
Assigned Task
The webmaster will be responsible for maintaining the current website (http://www.dartmouth.edu/~tucker)
as well as creating new content as needed by Tucker. This will include the
creation of dynamic pages and applications using MySQL and either PHP or Ruby
on Rails, and the maintenance of pages on a content management system and PHP
scripts.
The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of HTML and CSS as
well as at least one object-orient programming language (e.g. C++, Java/JSP,
PHP, ASP, etc). Experience with a server side scripting language, such as PHP,
is preferred. We are willing to consider candidates with knowledge of other
programming languages who are willing to learn PHP. Knowledge of MySQL is
beneficial but not required.
Requirement: Facility with technology and general
software packages required. Some background in statistics or survey work
(either academic and/or practical experience) highly preferred. Organizational
and interpersonal skills required. Demonstrated ability to work well
independently and in a team preferred.

Position Requirements
The current webmaster will be available for training and support until the
end of the 2007 fall term.

Compensation:
$8.50 per hour
