Tucker Program: Habitat for Humanity, SEAD
History with Tucker: "I volunteered with SEAD and started volunteering for Habitat for Humanity my sophomore year. I became a Habitat Chair junior year, and now this year I have been the student director."
What Tucker Means to Me: "Tucker is a huge resource. Without the Tucker Foundation acting as an organizational umbrella for so many service programs on campus, students would be lacking in so many important volunteer opportunities."
Even though it has been 6 months since Tropical Storm Irene hit Vermont and New Hampshire, central Vermont still has many families who have been impacted by Irene and have not yet recovered fully. Upper Valley Strong, an organization working to get Upper Valley citizens affected by Tropical Storm Irene back on their feet needs help to record the needs of these families using a phone survey.
The Tucker Foundation will be assisting Upper Valley Strong with this project and we are looking for students and staff to assist February 29, March 1, and March 4. If you think you or your organization might be able to help with these phone calls, please sign up HERE or get in touch with Kate Petcosky.

A message from the Faculty/Employee Assistance Program (FEAP):
When the adrenalin subsides from disaster assistance, a sense of confusion and or anxiety can continue to linger.
Volunteers may be exposed to a variety of disturbing imagery as well as emotional or cognitive experiences. Additionally, the impact of strong unfamiliar odors as well as the possibility of continuing harsh noise at the disaster sites can further challenge even professional disaster responders. In collaboration with the Tucker Foundation, the Faculty/Employee Assistance Program will be on stand-bye to assist individuals or groups of returning volunteers who may need help in understanding the impact and meaning of these experiences. For more information or to schedule a meeting with a FEAP counselor, please contact us at 646-1165 and or by e-mail at FEAP@Dartmouth.Edu<mailto:FEAP@Dartmouth.Edu>
