Dartmouth Partners in Community Service Internships

The Dartmouth Partners in Community Service (DPCS) mission is to inspire Dartmouth students to join with Dartmouth alumni and their families in addressing problems facing our society. The DPCS program allows Dartmouth students to invest in their civic growth, personal growth and liberal education by participation in full-time, leave-term community service internships.  Interns are matched with Dartmouth alumni, who serve as mentors for the interns.

Michael Scrubb at City Squash“It was truly the experience of a lifetime and I can't imagine a better one for someone interested in teaching and education. Not only did being in rural Mississippi put me out of my comfort zone, but the Freedom Project itself gave me an incredible amount of freedom to challenge any preconceived notions I had about the failings of America's public education system. It impressed upon me the urgency of this battle we are currently fighting in this country against educational inequality." - Georgiana Smyser '11

“At Dartmouth, conversations on entering the real world center around which medical, law, or business school to attend or which firm to pick. It all seemed so far away. It was part of a comfortable life, but I was glad that I was having the experience as a housing counselor. I was glad that I was getting a taste of reality.” - Jung Kim '10

Ibrahim Elshamy with mentor"Working at Lawyers Alliance gave me a real sense of hope in the concrete, simple, yet significant ways that an organization aids their fellow New Yorkers. It made me realize how passionate people, applying their individual expertise to a specific, realistic mission can truly change the lives of those in need." -Kate Burkhardt '13
