Kyle Engelman '08

Kyle Engelman '08Women's Health Clinic Volunteer
Cusco, Peru

Kyle will be working in various health clinics throughout Cusco, Peru, focusing on women's health and reproductive health. Kyle's passion for cross-cultural experiences and health-care work is evident in her past experiences, including her leadership position in the Tucker Foundation's "Nicaragua Cross-Cultural, Education and Service Program" and her volunteer work in Guatemala. Though Kyle's primary goal is to aid the community with her First Responder skills and her Spanish language proficiency, she sees her fellowship as reciprocal: she expects that the experience will give her invaluable exposure to direct healthcare and also the Peruvian culture and community.

Kyle hopes to further incorporate this knowledge and experience into her future goals, which include returning to Latin America for more service work and eventually opening a public women's health care clinic. Kyle writes, I plan to "pursue a medical degree and return to Latin America as a trained, devoted, and compassionate doctor interested in providing clinical and public health benefits to a family, a community, a region."
