Laura Rodriguez '08

Laura Rodriguez '08Teacher at Sahasra Deepika Institute
Bangalore, India

Laura will be working in Sahasra Deepika Institute, a school for homeless and orphan children in Bangalore, India. Laura will be teaching a three-course curriculum in English language, civic engagement, and ecological awareness. Laura hopes that her Civics course will help the students "become agents of change in their community" by stressing that "each individual has duties and responsibilities to society." Laura's passion for ecological issues stems from her experience in the Audobon Society, and she hopes to inspire her students to appreciate and preserve their environment. When asked about the challenges she foresees, Laura said, "While working among them with the culture shock, the mosquitoes and the heat will be challenging, it can only help push my limits and make me step outside my comfort zone to foster my inner growth."
