Generations Project: Senior Companions

Program Description

  • Upon orientation, each student is matched with a resident of the nursing home.
  • During a visit, a student can play games, watch television, look at photographs, or simply converse with their senior companion.
  • A student and his/her resident often develop a strong bond of friendship.
  • The program is very individual and fits easily into any schedule

Focus Areas

A student can choose to have a resident either in the regular unit or the Alzheimer's unit of the Hanover Terrace.

Time Commitment

A minimum of 8, 45 minute visits over the course of two consecutive terms is required. Most students typically go once a week, for 45 minutes to an hour.

Contact Information

For more information please blitz Generations Project.

Transportation

The Hanover Terrace and Outreach House are both less than one mile from campus, so a student could walk or bike there easily. Students can also be Tucker certified to drive there.
