Generations Project: Oral Histories

Program Description

  • As a society, we have the tendency to overlook and under appreciate our elderly.  Older citizens living right in our communities often feel isolated and alone.  The Generations Project: Oral Histories works to foster relationships between students and residents of senior apartments in New Hampshire
  • Students met with their resident on a weekly basis, hearing his/her life story and working to create an oral history of the senior citizen.
  • This is a great way for Dartmouth students to learn about the history of the Upper Valley and for seniors to share their life stories, knowing they will be documented and preserved for the future.

Community Partners

  • Lebanon Housing Authority
  • Rogers House Senior Apartments. Lebanon, NH

Time Commitment

1-2 hour per week.  Schedule is flexible.
