Where are you from?
What else are you involved in on campus?
Alpha Xi Delta Sorority
How have your Tucker experiences affected you?
I think it has mostly made me aware of things that I wouldn't have ever thought about. I joined Habitat before even thinking about housing issues, I just wanted to be involved in the community somehow. Working with Habitat has made me aware of issues like Hurricane Irene and how it affected the surrounding area. It makes me want to do more for the community surrounding Dartmouth because there are many more issues once you leave Hanover.
What do you love about Habitat for Humanity?
I love how it is very hands on. Anyone can sign up and go to a build, you don't need previous experience or a certain type of knowledge. There was one meeting where someone was wondering if being an engineer would make them more eligible to participate, and I was laughing to myself thinking that I'm just an art history major! It's also so rewarding when you build something for someone else and can really see the product of your work.
What would you say to a student who is trying to get involved at Tucker?
The greatest thing about going to such a small school is that you are free to email anyone or just go participate in a meeting that you are interested in. It's really so easy. All I did was go to a Habitat meeting with a friend of mine and I loved it! I started getting involved after that because I went to meetings and just signed up. So I would definitely recommend just emailing an organization or showing up at a meeting. I think both are so easy to do and most organizations want more students to get involved.
What is one fun fact about you?
It's my dream to one day have a corgi named Gus (short for AuGUStus).
