Areas of Expertise: Environmental Analytical Chemistry

Research: Brian's research focuses on the environmental applications of analytical techniques to probe the speciation and spatial distribution of trace metals in environmental and biological samples. Specifically, Brian has developed a number of hyphenated techniques coupling an analytical separation technique, such as liquid chromatography, with ICP-MS as a (multi-)element specific detector to study As and Se speciation in soil solutions and biological tissues, metal binding to bacteria and U binding to dissolved organic carbon and soil colloids.
