The Collis Center opened in 1901 making it one of the oldest campus centers in America. The building was renovated in 1994 thanks to the generosity of Charles Collis, Class of 1937, whose $5.5 million gift enlarged and improved upon the previous facility. Collis is open until 3:00am, seven nights a week. There are numerous activities going on here at any given time, throughout the building’s four floors.
- Basement: On this level, students will find the Lone Pine Tavern (the College-owned pub), 8 Ball Hall and FEUL dance club.
- 1st Floor: Collis Café is a great place to grab a salad, a cup of soup, a sandwich, or a piece of its home-baked breads. The Collis Common Ground, an elegant ballroom that once served as the campus dining hall, is now used for a variety of College-sponsored functions.
- 2nd Floor: Student Life, Assistant Deans and Advisors to International, Native American, Asian Pacific American, Latino and Hispanic, African American, and Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender students.
- 3rd Floor: The Academic Skills Center provides resources to help members of the Dartmouth community become more effective and efficient learners. Their offerings include learning enhancement counseling and workshops, tutoring, and services for students with disabilities.
You can choose to go in the doors that lead into the lobby or make a sharp right down the sloping ramp between Robinson and Collis to Thayer Dining Hall.
