Each term the Department of Theater produces a play performed in the Moore
Theater, a 480- seat proscenium house. Directed by members of the theater
faculty or guest professional directors, the productions are open to all
students, not just theater majors. The department is committed to presenting a
variety of theater experiences. Everything from classical Greek to contemporary
pieces finds its way to the mainstage. This year's line-up for academic year
08-09 includes "fly..." freely adapted by Pavel Dobrusky from Luis
Sepulveda's "The Story of a Seagull and the Cat Who Taught Her to Fly",
Stop Kiss by Diana Son and The Grapes of Wrath by
John Steinback, adapted by Frank Galati..
Auditions are the first week of each term. Productions are open to all
Dartmouth students; one does not have to be a Theater major, or enrolled in
Theater courses, to participate onstage or backstage. The call list is posted
on the bulletin board in Shakespeare Alley. Information is also posted in the
blitz-mail bulletin.
