Annabelle Winograd came to Dartmouth from the University of Tel Aviv, Israel. She has published on contemporary issues in performance in such journals as Artforum, Theater [Yale], New Theatre Quarterly, Theatre Research International and Comparative Drama.  Her book, Dada and Surrealist Performance (1995) received the Hazan Prize for 20th Century Art Literature, and the first volume, Shakespeare on Screen, of her international filmography, Theatre on Screen, was awarded two prizes as the best research book of 1991.  She is currently writing a book called Performing War. Materials from the Performing War project have appeared in Theater (Yale), Billie Melman, ed., Borderlines: Genders and Identities in War and Peace 1880-1930, and in Une guerre qui n'en finit pas, a l'ecran et sur scene 1914-2008, eds. Gauthier, Lescot et Veray. Within the Theater Department, Professor Winograd teaches Modern Drama and Contemporary Performance.
