Trained as a fashion designer at Moore College of Art, Margaret Spicer received her M.F.A. degree in costume design from the University of Minnesota. Since joining the faculty in 1974, she has designed costumes for 79 major productions, served as Department Chair, Vice-Chair and Director of Theater. Professor Spicer is also Adjunct Curator of the antique clothing collection at Dartmouth's Hood Museum of Art, where her most recent exhibition was "Completing the Picture: Hats, Fashion, and Fine Art." As a guest curator and costume consultant, Margaret Spicer has worked for numerous museums and historical societies in northern New England. In 2001, Professor Spicer was honored by a lifetime appointment to Scholars' Roundtable of the Costume Society of America.
