Pita Pizzas


Adapted from The McDougall Program

  • 2 whole wheat pitas (140 calories each)
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons (1/4 of a 6-oz can) tomato paste
  • 1 mushroom, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 bell pepper, sliced
  • dried basil
  • dried oregano
  • garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons parmesan cheese


Cut the pitas in half by slicing around the edges (separating into circles). Spread each half with tomato paste. Sprinkle with basil, oregano, and garlic powder, and arrange the vegetables on top. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 300° for 10 minutes.

Makes 2 servings.

Each serving 185 calories.
