Savory Hoisin Fish


Adapted from recipe in Moosewood Restaurant Low-fat Favorites

  • 1 lb. fish filets or steaks
    (catfish, perch, snapper, or other white fish)
Sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons miso
  • 2 tablespoons sake or dry sherry
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime or lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger root
Garnish:
  • thinly sliced green onions
  • thinly sliced red bell pepper strips
  • sesame seeds

Toast sesame seed in small pan with no oil over medium heat. Do not let them burn.

Whisk sauce ingredients in bowl. Place fish skin-side down in a lightly oiled backing dish. Pour sauce evenly over fish. Cover.

Bake fish 25-30 minutes at 350°. Sprinkle with garnish ingredients. Serve.

Serving suggestion: serve with rice and green salad
