Brrr !!

New Hampshire is proving how cold it can get. We went through one of the coldest January's on record, and after a couple weeks of "heat wave" (mid-30's) we're back to cold. There was a stretch in January where the high temperatures ranged from -5º F. to +5º F. and the low temperatures were -15º f. to -20º F. Plus there were high winds part of that time.

One curious side-effect of the cold spell was that it really does feel like a heat wave when the low temperature is +15º F. After all, it just warmed up 30 degrees or so! Imagine in the summer if the lows had been 60º F. and then they warm up to lows of 90º F.!

My latest adventure is running a fitness class two days a week at the gym. Who would have thought that I would ever be doing that! I enjoy it for the most part, although being the instructor takes some getting used to. I'm still nervous.

We spent Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's at home this year for a change. (Actually, we took a couple days at Thanksgiving and pampered ourselves at a resort in the White Mountains, just to decompress a little.) There have been too many times that we've returned from holiday travel to find that there is some winter emergency at our house. It was nice to spend the time at home, just the two of us.

The New Hampshire primary election has come and gone. We got really enthused about Howard Dean. It's too bad that he got crucified in the press. I guess the media/business/party establishment felt threatened that a real Democrat might run for president, with his own independent organization at that. I find it hard to get too enthused about Kerry, but he would certainly be a massive improvement over Bush. For that matter, a slime mold would be a massive improvement over Bush.

I hope you're staying warm!

Peace,

Terry
