Apple Leather

  • 4 cups apple, peeled, sliced, and chopped
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Put apples and water into a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium low, cover, and simmer for 10 - 15 minutes until apples break down.

Put apples and lemon juice into a blender. Puree until it has consistency of store-bought apple sauce. You should have about 2 cups.

Grease fruit leather dehydrator tray. Pour puree onto tray. Spread so it is thinner in center of tray and thicker at edges.

Put tray in food dehydrator. Dry between 105 and 135 degrees until no longer sticky (lower temperature if you are leaving it over night).

Peel leather off tray while still warm. Cut into four pieces. Roll up each piece and wrap in plastic wrap.

Makes one tray's worth of apple leather.
