Sytex‘s combination of courses is intended to enhance the network security skills of all information security professionals and high-tech crime investigators.

Course Information:

Networks and Networking for Agents and System Security and Exploitation - This course will teach students the skills necessary to investigate computer intrusions, gather and analyze evidence and understand what is involved in gaining unauthorized access, conducting denial of service attacks, and engaging in cyber fraud. You will learn the history of the Internet and how the Internet operates, PC basics, networking, media, topologies and LANs, the Unix operating system, TCP/IP, the OSI model, internet service providers (ISP), ISP Addressing and DNS, ports, daemons, ftp, electronic mail, telnet, Unix services and RPCs, web browser insecurities, open source information gathering, Internet security, Unix and NT audit logs, ARP, TCP, UDP, ICMP, and the Internet Protocols, hacker profiling, motivation and system security exploitation, target reconnaissance and exploitation tools, concealed correspondence, asset and source recruitment via the Internet, computer intrusion investigation, evidence collection and evaluation.

Advanced Intrusion Investigator's Course (UNIX) – In the advanced intrusion investigator's course (Unix), the students will review TCP/IP protocols, learn how to wiretap networks, and examine advanced techniques to reconstruct the actions of an Intruder. Through detailed log analysis, students will also learn to determine an intruder’s threat potential and skill level. Topics include: TCP/IP protocol review, Unix auditing, exploits, covert channeling, tool analysis, case scenario, network intrusion detection analysis, responding to Unix attacks, forensic analysis of computer intrusions.

Advanced Intrusion Investigator's Course (NT) - This course will treat all topics that are treated in the UNIX version.

Windows NT Network Security Assessment Course - This course seeks to educate IT professionals how to securely configure and monitor their networks for signs of unauthorized access; how to respond these incidents; how to stay informed on security issues; how to preserve and maintain data integrity; and how to use system security tools to prevent system exploitation of Microsoft networks.

Senior Executive Computer Security Course - The topics include: The history of the Internet and how the Internet operates, an introduction to networks, what is computer crime, defining the threat to your organization, case studies - insider, hacker and economic espionage, defending your networks, maintaining security in an unsecure world.

World Wide Web Security Training Course - This course is aimed at Systems administrators, Network Security Professionals, and Computer Intrusion Investigators who wish to gain a greater understanding of World Wide Web insecurities.
