TEDxDartmouth — You Might Not Realize
March 6, 2011
11:30AM – 4:30PM
The Hopkins Center for the Arts
On Saturday, April 17, 2010, Dartmouth College hosted its first TEDx event. In a jaw-dropping series of ten talks of max. 18 minutes by some of the most inspiring and innovative Dartmouth professors, shorter talks by 4 remarkable Dartmouth students and a number of short art performances, TEDxDartmouth was the ultimate showcase of Dartmouth excellence. In the spirit of Ideas Worth Spreading, the event presented the intellectual potential and overall talent of members of the Dartmouth community in a compact, exciting fashion. On Saturday, the stage of the Moore Theatre became an avenue for sharing inspiration, innovation and motivation, and The Hop was turned into an exhibition of what Dartmouth has to offer.
The second annual TEDxDartmouth event will take place on March 6, 2011. This year, we chose a larger venue — The Spaulding Auditorium, with a seating capacity of over 1,000, and the event will take place in two blocks instead of three. The theme of the conference is “You Might Not Realize…” The theme was chosen so as to provoke novel thoughts and unconventional views, and reveal overlooked phenomena, but it is fully open for interpretation by the speakers. It will feature talks by Dartmouth’s most renown and inspiring professors, most extraordinary students, and this year also two distinguished speakers from the ranks of Dartmouth College Trustees.
