Head Trainer Jeff Frechette

Jeff Frechette

Jeff Frechette enters his sixth year as Dartmouth College's Head Athletic Trainer. Prior to being named as the Head Athletic Trainer, Frechette had been on the Sports Medicine staff, as an assistant trainer since August of1981. As an assistant he worked closely with the men's soccer and ice hockey teams, as well as having responsibilities for several other teams including baseball, men's lacrosse and men's and women's crew. Since being named as the Head Athletic Trainer, Jeff has assumed the responsibility for varsity football and continues to work with the men's ice hockey team. Frechette and his staff are responsible for providing primary athletic health care to 34 varsity athletic teams which include nearly 1000 men and women student athletes. A 1980 graduate of West Chester State College, in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Frechette received his bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education with a concentration in Athletic Training. He earned his Master's degree in Public Health/Administration in 1986 from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He has worked as a volunteer with the U.S. Olympic Committee, serving as a staff trainer at Olympic Festivals in North Carolina in 1987 and Oklahoma in 1989. He served on the National Athletic Trainers' Association's Educational Multimedia Committee for six years. He has been a member of the NATA since 1977. Jeff and his wife Patty and son Greg (11) reside in Wilder, Vermont.


Sara Forte

Sara Forte

Sara Forte is in her 16th year with the Sports Medicine Department. Her responsibilities include women's soccer, women's lacrosse, men's and women's swimming and diving, and skiing. Sara is a graduate of Ithaca College with a B.A. in Health Education, and a concentration in Athletic Training. She received her M.S. in Exercise Science and Athletic Training from the University of Iowa. Sara is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, American Massage Therapy Association, American Physical Therapy Association, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. A certified personal trainer and a licensed massage therapist, Sara founded the Vermont Sports Massage Team. She won the 1992 AMTA meritorious award for work in sports massage for the Vermont chapter of the association. She has studied specialized, intensive training in Neuromuscular therapy (Paul St. John method). She is currently working on her Physical Therapy Assistants degree and is on the National Dean's List and Phi Theta Kappa.





Barbara Sibun

Barbara Sibun

Barbara is in her 11th year as a member of the Sports Medicine staff. Originally from Connecticut, Barbara received her B.S. in Education with a concentration in Athletic Training in 1985 from the University of Connecticut. In 1985-86, she served an internship as an Athletic Trainer, here at Dartmouth, working under the direction of many of the current staff. Barbara received her M.S. in Athletic Training from Indiana State University in July 1987; the same month she became certified by the NATA. Before returning to Dartmouth, Barbara spent two years as the Athletic Trainer at The Morgan School in Clinton, Connecticut. Here at Dartmouth she has worked with many of the athletic teams including: men's lacrosse, women's volleyball, squash, football, field hockey, women's tennis, baseball and women's basketball. Barbara has also been involved with the Dartmouth Health Service's Quality Improvement Committee including a year as the secretary of the committee. In addition to her responsibilities at the college, she has been involved with numerous sport camps and clinics. At the state level, Barbara has served on the New Hampshire Athletic Trainers' Association Executive Board since March 1996. She holds the position of treasurer. In her free time Barbara enjoys snow skiing, bicycling, sailing and traveling.


Mark Legacy

Mark Legacy

Mark begins his sixth year on the Sports Medicine staff at Dartmouth College. He is presently responsible for men's soccer women's basketball, men's and women's tennis, and the men's and women's rowing teams. Mark received his Bachelor's degree in Sports Medicine from Keene State College and his Master's degree in Exercise Science from the University of Maine. Prior to joining the staff at Dartmouth, Mark served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Saint Joseph's College in Windham, Maine. During his time in Maine he was actively involved in the state's athletic training association, serving on the state's licensure committee and accepting the nomination of president of the Maine Athletic Trainers' Association. Mark has recently been appointed by the Governor of NH to serve the States' Athletic Trainers Governing Board. He has been a member of the NATA since 1990. Mark resides in Hanover , NH with his daughter, Jordan, 29 months. Mark is an avid runner and enjoys most activities involving the outdoors.










Sandra Montoya

Scott Roy

Scott is in his second year as an assistant athletic trainer here at Dartmouth. He is working with the football, men's basketball, men's tennis and men's and women's outdoor track and field teams. A native of Gorham, New Hampshire Scott did his undergraduate schooling at Springfield College with a double major in athletic training and secondary physical education. While at Springfield Scott participated in athletics as a member of the varsity basketball team. From Springfield Scott moved on to a masters of science program in exercise science at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. At UMass he worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the varsity football, men's gymnastics and baseball teams. During this time he also did personal training through the Hampshire Fitness Club in Amherst. In 1996 Scott took a position as associate athletic trainer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. While at MIT he worked with virtually all of the 39 Div. III intercollegiate teams they fielded. Scott provided primary coverage for football, men's basketball and baseball. Scott is currently single and resides in Hanover. He gets up into the White Mountains to hike whenever possible and has an interest in many other recreational and outdoor activities including golf, mountain biking, pick-up basketball, snowboarding and in-line skating.






Kristen Hawn

 

Kristen became a member of the staff in August 1999. She is a 1998 graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato with a M.A. in Exercise Physiology. Originally from Portland, Maine, Kristen grew up in Lancaster, PA and attended the University of Pennsylvania where she played field hockey for two years before transferring to Boston university in the fall of 193. While at B.U. she was a part of the 1995 National Champion Terrier Mens' Ice Hockey program. Kristen has also been involved with the U.S. Women's Olympic Ice Hockey tryouts, the Boston Marathon medical staff, and the World Junior Hockey Championships. She also served as a Clinical Instructor in the MSU, M undergraduate athletic training program. At Dartmouth, Kristen will be responsible for men's and women's cross country and indoor track and field teams and the baseball team.

Kristen and her husband Darin currently live in Lyme, NH while they are looking for something more permanent....preferably on a lake. They enjoy cooking, traveling, and all kinds of outdoor activities.

 


Kelly Bromley

Kelly started in August at Dartmouth as the intern athletic trainer on the Sports Medicine staff. She graduated in 1999 from St. Bonaventure University with a BS in Biology with emphasis in Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy. Kelly played D-1 soccer her freshman year at SBU. After the fall '94 season she made the decision to dedicate her time to the Sports Med program. She was a student AT for 5 years working solely with the women's soccer, baseball and softball teams. While at Dartmouth she will be working with the field hockey, women's ice hockey and softball teams. In her spare time, Kelly enjoys running, skiing, hiking, outdoor activities and relaxing.
