British A-Level and IB Scores

British A-Level scores

A student who has received a score of "A" on an A-Level examination:

  • Has fulfilled the language requirement.
  • In addition, the student receives 1 credit (for Spanish 9) upon entry to Dartmouth.
  • Next suggested course:  30 level courses.
  • Student has surpassed the level for the LSA programs and is eligible for FSP programs.

A student who has achieved a score of "B" on an A-Level examination:

  • Has fulfilled the language requirement
  • Is eligible to take the Dartmouth Advanced Reading Test (DART) in Spanish offered only during orientation.
  • Student has surpassed the level for the LSA programs and is eligible for FSP programs.

IB Scores

A student who achieves a score of 6 or 7 on the Higher Level IB exam:

  • Has fulfilled the language requirement
  • In addition, the student receives 1 credit (for Spanish 9) upon entry to Dartmouth
  • Next suggested course: 30 level courses
  • Student has surpassed the level for the LSA programs and is eligible for FSP programs.
