Social Comparisons, Social Networks, and Racial Identity: A Look at Black-White Biracial Americans
A growing body of work examining biracial identity points to the importance of social networks in shaping racial identity, yet little work explores HOW social networks shape identity. In her current work, Dr. Khanna looks at the role of social comparisons (the comparisons they draw between themselves and others in their social networks) in shaping racial identity. Drawing on interview data with black-white biracial Americans, findings show they compare themselves to others on several dimensions - their phenotype, culture, and experiences with privilege, prejudice, and discrimination.

The Many Emotions of Politics
A lot of different processes get lumped together under the rubric of emotions, and we have different images of emotions depending on which we choose as exemplars. Not only do we need a little splitting, but some of the most interesting questions are about the relations between different kinds of emotions.
