Abigail E. Drevs

I'm currently working as a program and volunteer coordinator at the Illinois Affiliate of Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization. I handle all the outreach, education and support services for our office. The classes that I took in the Socy department reaffirmed my desire to work in the non-profit sector. Also, the tools (theory, research, materials) that I picked up from the classes gave me a base of knowledge that has impressed my coworkers and earned me a level of respect that I might not have received due to my lack of work and life experience.  Finally, it prepared me to tackle tough and complicated issues such as the racial disparity associated with breast cancer mortality. While I haven't found any answers to these issues, the socy dept. (particularly the faculty) helped cultivate in me, a profound interest in the pursuit of such answers.
