Michael McGean, Dartmouth class of 1949
and former Secretary of Dartmouth College, is our coach. As a
competitive figure skater in the 1940's and 1950's, Mr. McGean is one
of only two people in skating to ever compete at the same US Nationals
in Freestyle, Dance and Pairs. In 1951 he and his wife Lois won the
World Dance Championship and in 1992 they were inducted to The U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame.
For over forty years he has coached
local figure skaters in the Hanover area and has always been active in
teaching Dartmouth undergraduate skaters. He has coached numerous
skaters through their gold tests in figures, freestyle and dance. Mr.
McGean is a wonderful inspiration to all of us out on the ice. His
commitment to our club team and to us as people is a large part of what
make the Dartmouth Skating Club so special.

Loren McGean, Dartmouth class of 1992,
is both coach and choreographer. Loren is a former competitive skater,
long-time coach, and specializes in choreography. She has choreographed
many of the skaters' programs on the team, both long and short. Loren's
commitment to our team has been a fantastic asset and has contributed
to our successes. She shares her passion for skating with each of us,
and we are grateful for her enthusiasm and dedication.
