As an officially recognized US Figure Skating Collegiate Club, we compete in all levels of freestyle and solo dance events in the Eastern Collegiate Conference. We skate in several eastern collegiate qualifying competitions each season with the goal of qualifying for Nationals. Dartmouth's Club Sports program provides training ice on campus at Thompson Arena and our professional coaching staff oversees the training of Dartmouth's figure skaters.

Integral to both the creation of the team and these achievements in the intercollegiate figure skating  arena was the coaching of Michael McGean ’49 and his daughter Loren MecGean ’92 who both worked with the team from it’s inception through the 2008 season. Since Mr. McGean’s death in 2011, the team has skated in honor of the incredible effort and love that he poured in to the program. The McGeans were also essential in developing support for the team through the “Friends of Dartmouth Figure Skating” group as well as the Michael McGean endowment to ensure the team’s future — two programs that are integral to the running of the team. Coached now by Jacki Smith, the team has won Nationals in 2012, hosted The National Championships in 2013, and placed second and third in the nation in 2013 and 2014, respectfully.

Founded in 1997 by Amy Stetson ’00 with the help of Emily Schaller ’02, the Dartmouth Figure Skating team has achieved great successes in it’s short history — an unprecedented five consecutive National Championship titles (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008) and another title in 2012. The team has qualified for the National Collegiate Figure Skating Team Championships every year since 2000.

The Dartmouth Figure Skating Club carries its tradition of excellence around campus and in the classroom. With a team of nearly 30 skaters, cohesiveness is essential both on and off the ice. Skaters support one another throughout campus life, even when their skates are off. The team is excited for the upcoming 2014-2015 season and hopes to regain its national title for the seventh time in team history.
