dartmouth shotokan club information

normal training times
tuesdays and thursdays,
7 pm to 8 pm, in the
Manley multipurpose room M88 (off the west gym).
PE credit
students taking karate for PE credit need to attend both tuesdays and thursdays. additional training sessions, usually held from 8pm on the same days, are informal 'club' lessons and do not count towards PE credit. extra training sessions may be arranged on an informal basis, depending on upcoming competitions and/or gradings, etc. you can be notified of these by joining the blitzlist ('
shotokan'). it is recommended that students
arrive early before training in order to warm themselves up, this is not generally not included in the lesson itself.
club membership/dues
participants are required, under the rules of dartmouth club sports, to sign a waiver. this is standard practice for all dartmouth sports clubs, and does not refer specifically to karate. membership dues are currently not required in order to train in club lessons, although dues may be collected in future years with a view to subsidising external instructors, trips, purchase of club clothing, etc (dependent on interest within the club).
vacation training
outside of regular term, the alumni gym closes earlier than term-time and lessons will run earlier to accommodate. students should arrive slightly earlier also to ensure a full lesson.
