Help with using the site
Instructions for users with disabilities
This site was designed to be read by a screen reader. The first link on the page is a hidden "Skip to main content" link that allows users who have their Web pages read to them to skip directly to the main content of the page, bypassing navigation links and site graphics. Additionally, all relevant graphics have alternate text. We have tried to make all of our text content a "good read" by paying attention to phrasing and punctuation, and by designing our layout tables to make sense when read linearly. Additionally, all videos with audio are close captioned.
For software that supports the ACCESSKEY attribute, we have defined the following four keyboard shortcuts:
- Home: ALT-h (Windows), CONTROL-h (Macintosh).
- Search: ALT-s (Windows), CONTROL-s (Macintosh).
- Skip to main content: ALT-m (Windows), CONTROL-m (Macintosh).
- Jump to top of page: ALT-t (Windows), CONTROL-t (Macintosh).
We would greatly appreciate feedback on our site's accessibility; please send comments and suggestions to Sarah Horton at sarah.horton@dartmouth.edu.
Kerberos authentication
In some areas of the site, Dartmouth users will be prompted to enter a login and password, particularly on pages that include a submission feature. This is to identify class participants so that they can submit their responses for grading. The login process is implemented using Kerberos authentication with KClient and SideCar. When you request a page that requires authentication, if you do not already have a Kerberos ticket you will be prompted to log in using your DND name and password.
