
What to Bring?
Bedding
- 1-2 Sets of Twin extra-long sheets
- 1-2 Pillows
- Comforter
- Blanket
- Featherbed/Mattress Pad/Egg Crate Cushions
Clothing
- Underwear/Long Underwear
- Socks (especially Smartwool or something of the sort. Warmth is key!)
- Winter Coat
- Your Normal Wardrobe, keeping in mind that Dartmouth kids have a very wide variety of style and there's not much that's particularly "in" or "out" - bring what you'd be comfortable in. However, your normal wardrobe should include:
- Many warm sweaters (if you aren't used to cold weather)
- Pants
- A couple dressy outfits (receptions, matriculation, formal events, dates, church, plays, etc.)
- Shorts and tank tops (yes, in the early fall and late spring you will want them)
- Shirts (short sleeve, long sleeve, etc.)
- Clothing that can be worn as layers
- Bathing suit (for swimming in the pool or the river)
- Shoes - In addition to what you already have, you will want something substantial enough to make it through snow, rain, mud, and dirty floors.

- Snow Boots
- Worn-down Shoes
- If you're an outdoorsy person, then (waterproof) Hiking Boots
Bathroom Stuff
- Shower Caddy
- Bathrobe
- Shower Shoes
- Towel and Washcloth
- All your normal toiletries (all of which can be purchased at Topside/CVS)
- Medicine
Furnishings
Basically, you're pretty much set with the bed, desk, closet, drawers, trash can, and chair provided by ORL (Office of Residential Life), but you might want some of these things too:
- Refrigerator
- Television
- Desk Lamp
- DVD Player
- A Gaming System
- TV Stand
- Sound System
- Small Shelf Unit
- Stackable Drawers
- Futon
- Comfy Chair (such as a papazan chair, desk chair, etc.)
- Coat Tree
- Fan (not necessary but if you get hot really easily might be worth it, especially in the first days of fall and the last few days of spring term)
- Trunk (aside from storage, also functional as a table or bench)
- Tupperware containers or laundry baskets for convienient under-bed storage
Miscellaneous Items
- Iron
- Small Ironing Board
- Hair Dryer
- Laundry Basket
- Brita Filter
- Dictionary
- Printer (but... due to Greenprint, this is not really necessary)
- Basic school supplies (can also be bought once you arrive)
- Alarm Clock
- Coffee maker or tea kettle (with three-pronged plugs)
