Local private individuals or businesses who wish to hire Dartmouth students on a part-time (often 'one-time-only') basis are welcome to post these opportunities to our TempJobs Listserv. Simply complete the TempJobs form (MS Word doc, 74KB) and email it to the Student Employment Office. A position is posted within 2 business days after being received, so it is recommended that you send opportunities at least 3 days prior to your need.
Students are encouraged to sign up for the listserv and will get an email from the Student Employment Office with your position listing and contact information once it's been approved for posting by our office. Because these postings are in email format, there is no way to remove them. Students who are interested in your offering will contact you directly.
Retail, office, child care, yard care, and tutoring positions are some examples of current and past postings. Summer job listings from near and far are also welcome. We are happy to advertise for food servers, but for liability reasons, we do not post positions looking for student bartenders for private or home parties.
Please note: All internship opportunities or professional, post-graduate employment listings should be posted on the Center for Professional Development website.
Dartmouth College Student Employment listing services are provided free of charge to employers and to student job seekers. All hiring and compensation for work performed by student employees is handled directly between the student and the employer. All conversations regarding pay-rate, expected hours, dress, code of conduct and expectations of employment should be discussed prior to the student being hired. It is expected that the job will pay minimum wage or higher. The Student Employment Office does not mandate specific wages for particular student jobs.
The Student Employment Office does not perform background checks on students applying for jobs, nor on employers posting job opportunities. Employers and students are encouraged to request reference information from each other as needed to establish qualifications, credentials and overall fit between the employer and the student applicant.
All job listings are posted at the discretion of the Student Employment Office (SEO). SEO will not post jobs that appear to discriminate against applicants on the basis of age, sex, pregnancy, race, color, marital status, religion, sexual harassment, national origin, physical disability, mental disability or sexual orientation. Additionally, we will never post positions that are 'commission-only', where applicants must pay a fee, unpaid opportunities, or on behalf of third-party recruiters who cannot disclose the company and brand name they are representing. SEO reserves the right to refuse to post jobs that do not support the interests of the college and/or the students.
SEO acts only as a referral service and makes no particular recommendations regarding potential employers or employees. Neither Dartmouth College nor the Student Employment Office makes any representation or guarantee whatsoever about any position listed through the SEO-TEMPJOBS list, nor does Dartmouth College or the Student Employment Office assume any responsibility for safety, wages, working conditions, or any other aspect of off-campus employment.
While temp-job listings are intended to reach Dartmouth College students, employers must expect that jobs may be viewable by the general public as job postings may be conveyed by those with access to others without access.
