Hiring Students: Checklist
Job Description Form
- Complete the form for each student position in your office. SEO will enter the information into our database, SEO Jobnet, and assign the position a number. SEO will blitz the Jobnet Number to you. Please hold onto this number as you will have to put it on every student timesheet.

Advertising the Job
- When a position becomes vacant, notify SEO with the Jobnet number. We will then post your position on SEO Jobnet. Also, notify SEO when a position has been filled. We will remove the listing from SEO Jobnet.
Hiring the Student
- Contact SEO with the Jobnet Number. SEO will then remove the listing from Jobnet, but will keep the information in our database for future use.

Verify that the Student has completed the following...
- I-9 (Payroll Office)
- W-4 (Payroll Office)
- Letter from Legal Guardian (Payroll Office): If student is 17 years or younger.
- Timesheets (Payroll Office): These are to be filled out every 2 weeks and are due at 9:00am the Monday before payday.
- Leave Term Work-Study Request Form (Student Employment Office): If you are hiring a work-study student during a leave term, please be sure that the student has filled out this form.
- By following this process you will ensure that you have taken the proper steps to hiring a student worker and all is in check. This will also help avoid any unnecessary hassles later on.
