If you are employed on campus and expect to receive a paycheck, Federal Law requires that you complete an I-9 form. Completing an I-9 requires that you present originals of the legal documents that verify your ability to be employed in the United States. You will be required to provide proof of your identity and employment eligibility if you are hired. (As of November 1, 2008, Dartmouth College is an E-Verify Employer).
There are three locations on campus where you can complete this form:
* The Student Employment Office (downstairs in Thayer Dining Hall) - Open Mon-Fri 8:00 am - 4:30 pm,
* The Payroll Office - Open Mon-Fri 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, 7 Lebanon Street, 3rd Floor and
* The Human Resources Office - Open Mon-Fri 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, 7 Lebanon Street, 2nd Floor. 7 Lebanon Street is the office building on Lebanon Street across from the entrance to the Hop, next to Ben and Jerry's. Talbots is on the first floor of 7 Lebanon Street and the office entrance is to the right of Talbots.
You must complete the I-9 in a timely manner (within three days of the first day of work). If you fail to meet this deadline, your paycheck will be held at the Payroll office and it will be distributed to you when you come in to complete the I-9.
This represents a policy change from years past, and it is important that students make every effort to comply. To understand what ORIGINAL documentation must be brought with you when you complete the I-9, you may review the materials here.
If you have any questions, please stop by one of the offices above for assistance or blitz Employee.Information.Services@Dartmouth.edu or EIS@Dartmouth.edu.
