I-9 Policy

If you are employed  on campus and expect to receive a paycheck, Federal Law requires that you complete an I-9 form.  Completing an I-9 requires that you present originals of the legal documents that verify your ability to be employed in the United States. You will be required to provide proof of your identity and employment eligibility if you are hired. (As of November 1, 2008, Dartmouth College is an E-Verify Employer).

There are two main locations on campus where you can complete this form:
*  The Payroll Office - Open Mon-Fri 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, 7 Lebanon Street, 3rd Floor
*  The Human Resources Office - Open Mon-Fri 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, 7 Lebanon Street, 2nd Floor.   7 Lebanon Street is the office building on Lebanon Street across from the entrance to the Hop. Salt Hill Pub is on the first floor of 7 Lebanon Street and the building's entrance is to the right of Salt Hill Pub.

You must complete the I-9 in a timely manner (within three days of the first day of work).  If you fail to meet this deadline, you will be asked to stop working until your documents are completed.
This represents a policy change from years past, and it is important that students make every effort to comply.  To understand what ORIGINAL documentation must be brought with you when you complete the I-9, please see the last page of the I-9 form, which you can find here.

If you have any questions, please stop by one of the offices above for assistance or email Dartmouth.Payroll@Dartmouth.edu.
