Help

Purpose

Science Division Computing provides computing assistance to faculty and staff in the Science division via telephone, e-mail, office appointments and on a walk-in basis. 

General Information

Science Division Computing (SDC) offers help for desktop hardware, Macintosh and Windows operating systems, and standard productivity applications. Supported hardware and software are listed on the Support Guidelines web page using the following URL http://www.dartmouth.edu/comp/about/policies/software/supported.html

In addition, for Science Division faculty and staff, SDC provides basic support for some commonly used applications and clients such as:

  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Blackboard

Services provided by SDC

  • Application training in both group sessions and one-on-one
  • Set up of new computers, including transfer of data from old computer
  • Installation of applications and core Dartmouth software
  • Configuration of network and/or dial-up settings
  • Setup of most printers, scanners, drives and other peripherals. Please see the supported hardware and software list
  • Consultation on purchasing decisions for hardware and software
  • Evaluation and diagnosis of computer hardware and software problems
  • Can assist you with DND (BlitzMail) accounts and password resets.

Undergraduate and Graduate students can receive computing assistance through the Help Desk via telephone,
e-mail, and on a walk-in basis. Hours for the Help Desk are 9:00am to 10:00pm - Monday through Thursday, and 9:am to 4:00pm on Fridays.
