 Application Process

Nomination

In 2017-18, Dartmouth can nominate two seniors for this award. Keasbey Scholarship applicants must be nominated by the Dartmouth College Committee on Graduate Fellowships. Candidates must submit the following to Fellowship Advising by the campus deadline:

  1. Dartmouth Fellowship Registration Form
  2. Keasbey Application Form
  3. Complete the Nomination Permission Form and Waiver (Submit to Fellowship Advising by email PRIOR to the campus deadline)
  4. Personal Statement (indicating degree program and course of study)
  5. A Curriculum Vitae
  6. A brief statement indicating date of application to Oxford, Cambridge, Edinburgh or Aberystwyth program or programs and professors at the institutions with whom you have been in contact*
  7. Three Recommendation Letters from faculty members (signed, paper copies on letterhead required)
  8. Official Transcript (A hard copy with fall term courses)

* The Keasbey Foundation advises applicants to apply to graduate programs, especially those at Oxford and Cambridge, early and to contact potential advisors and graduate directors through phone or email. Candidates are also advised to consider applying to two different programs at the same time. While the Keasbey Foundation supports up to two years of study, they encourage applicants "to consider carefully whether their proposed course of study is more appropriate for a one-year program than for a two-year program." As they explain:

"Many M.Phil and M.St. programs are now one-year programs. And in the opinion of many college and university officials at Oxford and Cambridge, reading for a second M.Phil (or second M.St.) may not represent time well spent. If a student proposes two, consecutive one-year programs, we strongly recommend that they are both at the same university. Nominees may also apply to study a second B.A. degree. Among other advantages, the scholar can benefit from direct tutorials in a way that cannot be done in a graduate program. We support such programs."

Please Note: In order to be nominated, candidates must be available to travel to Philadelphia for interviews that will take place on December 8. All nominees must be committed to pursuing their proposed course of study if awarded the fellowship.

Please see the Keasbey Memorial Foundation Scholarship Information sheet before completing the application.

The Committee on Graduate Fellowships will read all application materials and decide on nominations.  You will be informed of your status via email.
