2008 Winter Carnival Letter
Dive Orders from the Dartmouth Winter Carnival
Captains:
There she blows!
Prepare yourself for a weekend of adventure and riotous fun in the
High
North as we welcome Dartmouth Winter Carnival 2008: 20,000 Leagues Under
the Snow!
Carnival will cast off on Thursday, February 7 with the annual Carni
Classic
ski races, the Human Dog Sled Race, and the unveiling of the snow
sculpture
on the Green. The revelry will continue into Friday and Saturday with
events
in the spirit of the Jules Verne classic, including the traditional
Nautilus
Plunge into icy Occom Pond and a Captain’s Dinner of sumptuous seafood.
This
year marks 97 years of Carnival mischief in the White Mountains – 97
years
of ski races and sledding and celebration of the Dartmouth spirit. In the
tradition of Captain Nemo and his motley crew, we encourage students and
faculty members alike to set sail this weekend on a journey of
exploration
through the snowy expanses of New Hampshire. Take advantage of the
college’s
unique holiday and dive in.
So strap on your scuba suits, jump into the snow, and embark on your
own
Dartmouth adventure this weekend!
Yours on the high snows,
