What to Expect at a Session

Your session with an RWIT tutor is a time to step back and examine your work with a fresh pair of eyes. A tutor can help you in all stages of the composing process, from brainstorming to final revisions. At the beginning of the session, the tutor will get acquainted with your assignment and your work. Please bring a copy of your prompt or assignment to your session. If you are at the brainstorming stage, expect a discussion about the assignment and your initial thoughts. If you have a draft or part of a draft written, expect the tutor to spend a few minutes reading it. For the remainder of the session, your tutor will engage you in dialogue about where and how you might improve your work. Tools such as outlining or reference materials may be used. We respect the privacy of our clients, and sessions will remain confidential.
