Dartmouth has established channels for asking questions about regulatory compliance, seeking guidance about College policies or procedures, or reporting suspected violations of law, policy, or business ethics. Reports may be made anonymously.
International SOS (ISOS) assistance gives peace of mind to travelers and expatriates all over the world and offers travelers the highest possible level of travel, medical, and security advice and services, as well as on-line access to important information. Services range from telephone advice, medical referrals, legal aid, to full-scale evacuation by private air ambulance. The ISOS network of 5,000 employees, including multilingual critical care and aero-medical specialists, operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year from over 26 ISOS Alarm Call-In Centers around the world.
Coverage is automatically provided for all students, faculty, staff, and immediate family members traveling with you (spouse, dependent children, or life partner), against unexpected difficulties that can arise when traveling away from home. Coverage applies for your business or vacation travel. (See FAQs). While abroad, if an emergency arises, make ISOS your first call. ISOS will work to meet your needs immediately and will contact the College through the Department of Safety and Security, the Off-Campus Programs Office and/or the Risk and Internal Controls Offices while coordinating services with you abroad.
Login automatically from the Dartmouth web site and check out the information on International SOS! To see Dartmouth specific information,or to print out an identification card, use the Dartmouth membership number requested. Whenever traveling abroad, you can access up-to-date reports on over 170 countries worldwide. Information found on-line can be as simple as informing you about local water quality to vaccination requirements. The International SOS web site also contains an online Personal Locator form for inputting travel and destination information. It is strongly recommended that all travelers complete this form so that your itinerary and other information can be accessed by International SOS or Dartmouth College on-call staff should you need to be located in the event of an emergency.
While the services listed below are comprehensive, it is important to understand that International SOS is not a health insurance company. ISOS will assist you in obtaining the best medical care available locally, or make arrangements for you to return to your home or Dartmouth to receive the appropriate medical attention. If you are unable to arrange for payment of medical expenses at the time of service, International SOS will guarantee and pre-pay all costs associated with your medical care. However, you are ultimately responsible for seeking reimbursement from your health insurance company for any medical expenses incurred or for the ISOS case management fee ($300-$750). (Typically health insurance company will reimburse for the case management fee, but not always). This is why Dartmouth requires you to have health insurance which will cover you while overseas.
With the well being of College travelers as a top priority, International SOS will provide a seamless integration of meeting emergency needs while traveling abroad in conjunction with the College's on-site personnel, policies and procedures. Please contact the Risk and Internal Controls Services Office at (603) 646-2442, or the Off-Campus Programs Office (603) 646-1202, if you have any questions.
