Vehicle accidents
|
|
If at any time a member of your department or a student under your responsibility is involved in a motor vehicle accident in a College vehicle (owned, leased or rented by the College), proper notification is essential. The following procedure given to drivers traveling on College business may be of assistance.
In case of an accident
- In case of an accident with bodily injury or death, call for medical assistance immediately by dialing 911.
- Contact local police authority at the time of the accident for investigation and state report filing, as well as the Department of Safety & Security (603) 646-2234.
Note: if the accident occurs on College property, the Hanover Police Department (603) 643-2222 must be called to investigate as well as the Department of Safety & Security (603) 646-2234.
- On the same day or during the next working day you, the driver, or someone on your behalf must report the details of the accident to OIRMI for further instructions for claim filing.
- If more than one vehicle is involved, obtain the name and address of each driver, any witnesses, and the automobile insurance information of each vehicle, as well as all pertinent information including the vehicle make, vehicle owner, state of registration, registration number and a description of any damage. Direct the owner (driver) to contact OIRMI (603) 646-3839 for insurance information and procedures.
- Report the accident to your department head or supervisor.
- OIRMI will coordinate vehicle repairs and as soon as the repairs to the College vehicle are completed, the deductible amount will be charged to the proper account number in your department. You will be notified when this action takes place.
Failure to follow these regulations may place reimbursement in jeopardy.
