Near-Infrared Observing at MDM

Located on the southwest ridge of Kitt Peak, MDM Observatory is jointly operated by Dartmouth College, Columbia University, Ohio-State University, and the University of Michigan. The observatory operates two telescopes: the 1.3m McGraw-Hill Telescope, and the 2.4m Hiltner Telescope. For Near-Infrared observations, the Dartmouth Supernova Group uses the 2.4m Hiltner telescope with TIFKAM (a.k.a ONIS). TIFKAM is a highly configurable Near-Infrared camera which uses a 512x1024 ALLADIN InSb array. TIFKAM is equipped with standard J,H, and K filters for broadband imaging, and a variety of grisms and order blocking filters that allow for low resolution (R about 700) and moderate resolution (R about 1400) spectroscopy in the 0.8 -- 2.5 micron wavelength regime. For more information about MDM observatory check out the MDM website. For more about TIFKAM (a.k.a. "ONIS", a.k.a. "MOSAIC"), try the ONIS homepage.
