Research & Instruction Services, Baker-Berry Library

Research and Instruction Services (RIS) Mission

Research and Instruction Services contributes to the Library’s mission to advance scholarship and research, uphold excellence and innovation in teaching, and foster learning in the Humanities, Social Sciences, and in interdisciplinary studies.

To accomplish this mission our goals are:

  • Collection management: Select, manage and provide access to resources in all formats being responsive to the curricular and research needs of the Dartmouth community.
  • Liaison responsibilities: Provide a primary channel of communication between the Library and the constituencies we support.
  • Education: Provide a range of instructional services to enable users to identify, navigate and evaluate information resources.
  • Research support: provide professional research support and reference service to Library researchers at the point of need.
  • Digital Library at Dartmouth: Collaborate in the development of the Digital Library at Dartmouth.
