4 Currier Place is a 3-story commercial building containing approximately 35,000 square feet of gross floor area. Located along the east side of Currier Place between Lebanon and South Streets, the building is designed to accommodate retail, office, and other commercial uses. The design of the building features brick exterior cladding on the 1st and 2nd floor with traditional architectural detailing. The 3rd floor features metal panel cladding with a contemporary architectural expression. On-site parking for the Project is provided for 88 vehicles, including 21 covered spaces in the basement of the building, and 67 surface spaces.
When completed in September, 2009, the 4 Currier Place will initially be occupied by Dartmouth College uses temporarily displaced by a future expansion of the Hopkins Center proposed to be constructed on the north side of Lebanon Street. That project, known as the Visual Arts Center (VAC), will require the demolition of several campus structures to the east of Spaulding Auditorium resulting in a temporary dislocation of functions located within those buildings. While the VAC is under construction, 4 Currier Place will be occupied by several undergraduate painting, woodworking and welding studios as well as faculty office and teaching spaces. Once the VAC project is completed, 4 Currier Place would be leased to downtown commercial uses.
