We who believe in freedom cannot rest.
Julie Lisi '05
Julie (or Lisi) hails from Orange, CT (home of the PEZ factory!!) and loves the Rocks so much that she decided to stick around Dartmouth for an extra year of singing, arranging, and a cappella mischief; she spent her non-rehearsal time working on a Masters from the engineering school. Her interests include belting with the World Music Ensemble, chicken and broccoli, jager bombs, 90s rock, graphing dynamic progressions, and hot engineers. I mean, hot engineering.
Kim Coppola '06
Kim is from Long Island and likes to believe she doesn't have the accompanying accent. She graduated Dartmouth with a double major in Government and Music and now works as a paralegal in Manhattan for the next year before starting law school. Her interests include wine and cheese, tanning, things that start with the letter "joe", family guy, opera, sushi, and reading.
Amanda Faircloth '06
Amanda may be this girl's name, but the Rockapellas know her exclusively as Princess. When we heard she was Native American royalty, there was no going back. Princess is from North Carolina and is the group's official style guru. Taking the job to a new level, she began sending us color swatches from carpetworld.com to help coordinate our outfits. Princess is an English major and a member of the Alpha Pi Omega sorority.
Tarunya Govindarajan '06
Musical Director '05-06'
Tarunya is an Environmental Studies major who hails from lovely Hanover, NH. In addition to an obsession with saving the planet and small college towns, she also enjoys good food (and drink), watching TV shows on DVD, and world music. Now that she's sadly graduated, instead of the green, she can be found sitting on the roof of her apartment watching a Red Sox game with Lisi.
Hema Mohan '06
Hema is an Indian American from New Jersey. She loves New Jersey, even though no one else does, and even though she now hails from Kentucky. An Arabic major and Spanish minor, her major interests involve going to areas of the world that most other people avoid, attempting to belly-dance, playing badminton and singing until she loses her voice with the Rockapellas. Hema's post-college plans will bring her to Yeman and Kuwait on a Fulbright scholarship.
Ruchita Dhawan '07
Ruchita was born in Maryland and still believes it's the best place in the world. She graduated from Dartmouth a year early (what was she THINKING?) with a major in Spanish Literature (Iberian) and a minor in Economics. When she's not working, she's usually reading or eating. Her interests include dancing, french fries, bunnies, widgets, sunshine, and novels. She thinks she'll grow up to be a lawyer.
Tyler Frisbee '08
Tyler is an '08 Rockapella and the only one from west of the Mississippi! She hails from Portland Oregon and is double majoring in Government and Geography. She loves hiking, horseback riding, the New York Times, babies, green tea, singing, baking and sunny skies (and the Rocks of course!). Tyler is planning on getting a masters in public policy after Dartmouth and wants to go into politics when she finally has to enter the real world.
Michelle Cohen '08
Michelle is a southern belle from Georgia. She is a Theater major but that doesn't quite capture how involved in the department Michelle is. When she's not acting, stage managing, directing or ruling the theater world at Dartmouth, you can find her at the Tabard, a co-ed fraternity.
Annie Greengard '08
Annie grew up in New York City, which she thinks is pretty much the most amazing place ever. She is, however, very much enjoying her country lifestyle at Dartmouth. Some of Annie's favorite things are tabloids full of celebrity gossip, japanese food, traveling, talking politics and dancing anywhere and everywhere. She is a Geography Major and Public Policy minor.
Hannah Rossman '08
Music Director '07-'08
Hannah is from Morrisville, Vermont. She loves Vermont. A lot. She also love rocks. Singing Rocks and rocks you find in the wilderness (She's an Earth Science major). She enjoys most things that involve the outdoors, food, and music (as separate or combined entities). When she's not simulating instruments with her voice, she is usually playing the guitar or the tambourine. In her time at Dartmouth she has been involved with the Dartmouth Organic Farm, Cabin and Trail, and the Rockapellas as well as some one term adventures in bluegrass bands and world music choirs.
Stephanie Morales '09
Stephanie already had her life planned out before entering Dartmouth -- she plans on starving upon graduation. In other words, Stephanie is a Theater major. She prides herself on being a born and raised New York City girl (well actually she lives in New Jersey now but thats our little secret). She usually speaks too loud and too fast causing her words to come out in a language that is not English -- we have yet to determine what this language is. This girl is also planning the Rocks Anguilla tour and for this and other reasons the Rocks love her endlessly.
Julia DeWahl '09
Julia "Another Brick In" DeWahl was given the mysterious nickname of Pink when she first made it into the group, but it never stuck. Neither did Floyd. Regardless, Julia enjoys playing sports, good food, the color red, the outdoors, traveling, and adventures and spontaneity of all sorts. She is still very much undecided about what she wants to major in, and has taken up the position of Business Manager along with fellow frisbee player Molly Roy.
Aulden Kaye '09
Aulden lives in New York and was born in new york but lived for a while in between in new jersey (ahhhhh!!!!!). But never fear, she is remedying that former smudge in her residential history by residing in Paris, probably the best city in the world, in the fall of '06. She is a romance languages major and a music minor, and her current job in the rockapellas is CD production. She loves sushi, boats and the beach in general, and swimming in any manner of dress (or undress). She also loves the name Russel for a girl. Word.
Molly Roy '09
Molly is from Arlington, VA. Probably directly related to growing up five minutes from Washington D.C., Molly plans on majoring Government with a possible minor in Chinese. Then, in addition to the Rockapellas, she is a part Dartmouth Women's Ultimate Frisbee team and mentors at Indian River Middle School. Molly's secret love is ballet and sometime in her life plans to learn how to surf, visit the 7 wonders of the world, and be able to speak multiple languages fluently (as of now she's mastered one: English - and even that's questionable sometimes).
Katie Ferguson '10
Katie was born in Brooklyn, NY but grew up in the great state of New Jersey. She loves music in almost any form, especially singing in the rain and, of course, the Rockapellas. She's very much into German and is hoping to go on the Berlin FSP this fall. Some of Katie's other interests include crew, camping, photography, foliage, night swimming, torrential downpours, and food (especially mangoes, chocolate, avacados, cookie dough).
Jessica Guthrie '10
Jessica's motto for life is "nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm". We're pretty sure her high spirits will make her ruler of the world some day. To prepare, Jess plans to double major in Government and Psychology with a minor in Public Policy. Some of her favorite things to do include: singing, acting, volunteering, public speaking and just being busy. In addition to the Rocks, she sings in the Glee Club, Gospel Choir, mentors at local middle school through Dartmouth Alliance for Children of Color Mentor, and represents the '10 class in the Afro-American Society. Jess hails from Fredericksburg, Virginia.
Kirsten Orloff '10
Kirsten is one of the approximate 3.5 million Jersey kids in Hanover currently attempting to overpopulate more than just the "dirty jers." She is an avid tree-climber and also enjoys lacrosse, soccer, and skiing. She's pretty much obsessed with lime green, flat shoes, and dark-chocolate-covered pretzels, but then again, who isn't? As of now, her ever-changing plans for the future include double-majoring in Chemistry and Spanish with the hopes of becoming a doctor some day.
Ali Rope '10
Ali is from Idaho Falls, Idaho and is a Neuroscience major planning on applying to med school after she graduates, bartends in Europe, and goes surfing in Costa Rica. Big Plans. On campus, Ali is on the executive board of the Dartmouth Coalition for Global Health (with the less-than-official title of Director of Good Times), does research (aka rat brain surgeries) in a behavoiral psychology laboratory, and gets outside with the Dartmouth Outing Club every chance she gets. She is so incredibly happy to be part of The Rocks and is absolutely sure that this experience has changed her life!
Addie Gorlin '11
Addie Gorlin was born in Boston, but, judging by her accent, has lived in Minnesota for the majority of her life. Basically she decided to come to Dartmouth for the warm winters. She's currently reveling in the liberal arts experience and, while her possible major switches about every week, she is currently considering a sociology major modified with ethics and a minor in public policy. Other than rockin' out with the Rockapellas, Addie loves theater, dance, canoeing, hard core nordic skiing with her family, and aspires to walk backwards as a tour guide. She can also be found telling people about her cool double tooth, which she theorizes dates back to when her ancestors had to kill seals, or rapping the presidents in sequential order, percussion and all.
Meera "Meercat" Krishna '11
Meera Krishna hails from Dallas, Texas where she first discovered her love for making sweet, melodious music. She is currently interested in studying anthropology and psychology at Dartmouth College. Meera enjoys the simple things in life; the top of her list being large bowls of ice cream, brisk runs during the fall, singing (obviously), and the Food Network. Few things give her quite as large a thrill as being a member of The fabulous Rockapellas.
Jean "Bean" Mason '11
Jean was born in Philadelphia and has lived there all her life, however the lakes and mountains of New England (especially Maine) are her true home. She highly enjoys CAMP, sailing, anything to do with water (swimming in it, rowing on it, drinking it, playing in it, jumping in it, fighting with it), hugs, cliff jumping, sushi, thunder/rain storms, national geographic, music, star gazing, absurdity, and the zoo. Rockapellas is well on its way to the top of her list of favorite things.
Amy "Stan" Stanesco '11
Amy Stanesco entered the world on a snowy morning in Denver, Colorado and has lived there ever since. She has a great love for singing (obvi), children, animals, and peace, and is considering becoming a pediatrician or veterinarian, or possibly something else entirely. Somewhere along the way Amy picked up a healthy dose of African spirit, and for that reason she recently spent 5 months living in Ghana. Amy is a great believer in magic, which she finds and shares in great abundance at Geneva Glen Camp. She also revels in the incalculable magic created by the glorious harmonies of the Rockapellas.
Danielle "Boze" Baez '12
Danielle "Boze" Baez is one spicy Puerto Rican pebble (she hopes). She hails from Allendale, New Jersey, a quaint suburb that has been holding her back from achieving her telenovela dreams. Unfortunately, those dreams were put on hold due to inappropriate advances from an unnamed casting director. In the meantime, she's attending Dartmouth (and as a pastime, majoring in Engineering) until her career is back on track. She enjoys parties, mangoes, chocolate, purple, hang gliding, motorcycles, and the beach. Ciao!
Emily "Freebs" Freebairn '12
Music Director '11-'12
Emily grew up in the rainy city of Seattle, where she somehow managed not to become a coffee addict. At Dartmouth, she plans to major in Mathematics or Physics, and travel abroad. Her other interests include sailing, reading, kayaking, biking, and music of all kinds. Emily expresses her love of music through her involvement with the Chamber Singers, World Music Percussion Ensemble, and of course the Rocks!
Adelaide "Pops" Giornelli '12
Adelaide is from Atlanta and can be recognized her by her ridiculous baby bangs and disturbingly loud voice. She loves singing in the shower, rapping in the car, AND dancing in the streets. She is also really lazy and so will let the people in her room finish describing her to you: "bubbly", "beautiful", and "spritely" were a few of the more positive words used to describe her. So there you go.
Emily "Lilu" Liu '12
Emily is from Spokane, WA and into all kinds of music (except Gregorian chant) and singing (obviously), obscure sports, ninjas, wiki-surfing, science, food (especially chicken), and languages. She's considering pre-med along with the vast majority of Dartmouth '12s, but is as unsure as the whole sentiment is conformist. Emily speaks two languages (English and Chinese) and thinks that a good round of volunteer work with the Peace Corp will remedy her lack of knowledge of other languages. She's looking forward to being a part of the Rockapellas and possibly the crew team.
Patricia "Pele" Lee '12
Patricia Lee graduated from an all-girls school in Dallas, Texas. She writes music and recently recorded her first album. She is interested in studying environmental science and English at Dartmouth. Patricia loves naps, mythical creatures, daytime talk shows, frozen yogurt, and the Rockapellas. Her zodiac sign is Gemini.
Annie "Gondi" Rendall '13
Annie Rendall hails from South Burlington, Vermont where she grew up skiing in the Green Mountains, swimming in Lake Champlain, and singing with her high school jazz band on Church Street. If you are currently looking for Annie your best bet is to check Rocks rehearsal at the Hop, the Dartmouth Skiway, or the Moore Psychology Building. In addition to the Rocks, Annie is a member of the Women's Alpine Ski
Team, and has a major in psychology. Through the amazingly empowered group of women that make up the Rockapellas, Annie has met some of her best friends and has realized her passion for social justice. She is unsure of what she wants to do after college, but knows that music will always be a huge part of her life!
Maia "Trex" Matsushita '13
Maia was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in White Plains, NY. She loves to sing, read, and watch bad television. She is contemplating a major in Anthropology, but is still totally undecided. She plans on going on the Greek Classics FSP next year, and spends most of her time watching Brat Pack movies and eating Indian, Italian, or Japanese food.
Reese "Mo" Ramponi '13
Musical Director '12-'13
Reese hails from Soldotna, Alaska and enjoys singing, snowboarding, clothing in exciting colors, mangoes, and yams. She is a religion and psychology double major. Apart from the Rocks, Reese is in Sigma Delta sorority, writes for the Dartmouth Mirror, and is in a band. When she's not singing, she's most likely hiking or making collages.
Ali "Frex" Oberg '13
Ali Oberg is a native of Wellesley, Massachusetts. She enjoys hiking and fancies herself a free-spirited outdoorswoman. She gets giddy at any mention of *NSYNC or green Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. You might find her eating eggo waffles, La Riviera tuna salad or binge watching late-night Rocket Power or Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reruns. Her hobbies include, but are not limited to, tie dying, spooning, scaling rock faces, collecting lawn ornaments and streaking.
Anoush "Rizz" Arakelian '14
Business Manager '13-'14
Anoush grew up in Bedford, MA to a loud and proud Armenian family. OOPA! Her hobbies involve running, talking about brains, going on adventures, and snuggling. It is rumored that she watched all the episodes of Gossip Girl on her study abroad in France, while simultaneously depleting the country's supply of dark chocolate. She is studying Neuroscience and Theater and ways in which they may both be applicable in real life. And no, she is not related to the Kardashian's.
Steffi "Peeps" Ostrowski '14
Steffi was born and raised in Oakmont, PA, where she got her first taste of the spotlight as Jonah in her church's musical rendition of "Jonah and the Whale." She is a computer science and philosophy double major. When she's not singing, you can find Steffi reading, watching sitcoms, or eating nutella.
Crystal "Manto" Ye '14
Music Director '13-'14
Crystal Ye is a proud member of the Rockapellas and espouses freedom from injustice, freedom from opression, and freedom from pants. She is a Linguistics and Mathematical Social Sciences double major. Home is sleepy suburban Malvern, Pennsylvania - but everybody knows her real home is the Rocks. She enjoys baking cookies, really terrible puns(they must be terrible to be amusing e.g. what's orange and sounds like a parrot? a carrot!), punky hair, biking in short skirts, and imitating an instrument for 6+ hours every week.
Vicky "Misi" Stein '14
Vicky Stein is so Californian that it's almost absurd- she literally hugs trees, reads the New York Times, and pines (or redwoods, ha ha) for the Pacific Ocean while she's in New Hampshire. She is majoring in Biology focused in Ecology, and works at the Donald Claflin Jewelry Shop at Dartmouth. The Rockapellas are the main reason she can survive the weather in New England.
Emma "Steak" Orme '15
Music Director '14-'15
A Brooklynite through and through, Emma Orme clearly spends most of her time riding her fixed geared bike while listening to NPR. When she’s not pretending to be a hipster, however, she’s most likely busy singing or pumping iron in hopes of someday living up to her rocks nickname. Emma enjoys all things hazelnut and harmonized, and if you really want to warm up to her, she’s always down for a good cuddle.
Jamie "Mater" Mercado '15
Jamie grew up in Connecticut, but it wasn't until she came to Dartmouth that she developed an affinity for Cabot cheese, mountains, and ugly sweaters. As a philosophy major, she spends a lot of time sipping tea and thinking deep thoughts, but when she's not doing that you can usually find her laughing at very bad jokes. She enjoys all things cuddly and community.
Meredith "Ozzy" Shaw '15
Meredith was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, IL. She loves to sing (surprised?!), spin, eat chicken nuggets, and hug anyone and everyone. If someone would like to explain to her exactly what Linguistics is, she might know her future major. Meredith is beyond excited to join the Rockapellas family!
