Insurance Requirements

Federal and State safety regulations mandate that Dartmouth College maintain an active record of General Liability, Workers' Compensation, and Auto Liability insurance carried by all contractors and vendors who do work, provide a service, deliver a product to Dartmouth College, or use or lease College-owned facilities and/or land. Additional requirements may be necessary and are stated below.

All Certificates of Insurance must be on file, prior to the start of any work, with the Office of Integrated Risk Management & Insurance, 53 South Main Street, Suite 212, Hanover, New Hampshire 03755. Information available @ http://www.dartmouth.edu/~rmi/

General Liability policy with a $2 million per occurrence limit, including bodily injury and property damage; personal/advertising injury; contractual; premises/operations; independent contractors; products and completed operations.

An Excess Liability policy is acceptable if necessary to bring the General Liability to the required $2 million per occurrence limits.

The Trustees Of Dartmouth College must be named as Additional Insured with respect to General Liability coverage insofar as it pertains to the work done/service provided/product delivered to the College. Your policy must be Primary as to any other valid and collectible insurance, but only as to acts of the named insured.

Auto Liability with bodily injury & property damage for owned & non-owned vehicles. All waste management companies must have limits of at least $1 million per occurrence and must include the MCS-90 pollution endorsement.

Workers' Compensation, as mandated by law.

Professional Liability with a limit of $1 million per claim is required for all professional services including, but not limited to, architects, engineers, consultants, and testing services. For projects valued at $2 million or more, the required professional liability limit is $2 million per occurrence.

Pollution Liability with a limit of $10 million per claim, site-specific, is required of all waste management, abatement, or recycling companies.

Caterers Liquor Liability is required for any caterer hired to serve alcohol at a College function.

Coverage's represented on the certificates of insurance must show policy numbers, effective dates and limits. All policies shall evidence insurance written by a carrier licensed in the State of New Hampshire and rated at least "A" in A.M. Best's Key Rating Guide. Renewal certificates of insurance shall be provided annually until the work is completed and for three years following the completion of work.
