Furniture
Dartmouth College has standardized on Steelcase furniture (case goods,
selected files and seating) and inventories a variety of this furniture for
rapid distribution and installation by the Facilities Operations &
Management staff.
Denise Rowell (646-3228) is the contact person in Procurement Services for
incidental office layouts of up to ten offices. Depending on the departmental
workload Business Interiors of Williston VT is also available to assist with
CAD drawings. This determination will be made by Denise Rowell.
Procurement Services also manages a Loaner Chair Program whereby they offer
ten chairs for employees to view and try before they buy. Employees can
schedule an appointment with Denise Rowell (646-3228) between 7:30 a.m. and
3:30 p.m.
Standard Stocking Furniture Program
Procurement Services has instituted a furniture stocking program comprised
of Steelcase Series 9000 system furniture. The program was created with the
assistance of Lisa Tiraboschi, David Harris, Bill Hochstin, Cynthia
Crutchfield, Denise Rowell, Greg Husband and Bill Baker. Finish and surface
selections for the program were made by George Hathorn, Campus Architect. The
purpose of the program is to have selected height adjustable workstation
components available for delivery and installation (at no cost by FO&M
personnel) within 24-48 hours following receipt of a requisition in Procurement
Services. The rectangular work surfaces are adjustable within a range of 26.5"
to 30.5" and have a 3/4 height back panel. The work surface is a Driftwood
Speckle laminate and the finish is Warm White.
The furniture is available in "L" shaped configurations and is comprised of
three units-two rectangular work surfaces and either a single or bi-level
height adjustable work surface which measures 48" along both back edges of the
corner piece. The single level work surface is adjustable from 26" to 39/5".
The bi-level unit adjusts within the same range and the keyboard shelf adjusts
+/- 5" from the height of the monitor surface. The work station or individual
unit assemblies are available in the following widths: 30", 45" and 60". All
units are 30" deep. Metal center drawers and pedestals are also stocked in the
program. Should these dimensions not meet our requirements other non-stock
options are available.
Loaner Chair Program
The purpose of the Loaner Chair Program is to allow employees to try chairs
from our stocking program for up to five days prior to buying them. Many chairs
are designed to accommodate specific ergonomic requirements. It is virtually
impossible to make this procurement decision from looking at a chair or simply
sitting in it once.
Although the chairs in our program include a variety of ergonomic features,
one chair does not accommodate every individual. We stock several chairs from
various manufacturers. All of the chairs in the program have been reviewed for
functional and structural requirements. They all have various ergonomic
adjustments that are explained to you upon delivery of the chair.
Chairs available through this program are: Steelcase Criterion high-back and
mid-back (with or without arms), Steelcase Rapport chair with arms, Steelcase
Drive chair with arms, Steelcase LEAPL chair with arms, Steelcase Leap Pillow
back with arms and the Grahl Excellence 67 chair. In the event that none of the
above chairs meet the needs of the user there are other quality chairs that
Procurements Services can arrange for the user to review and try.
Individuals interested in the program should call Denise Rowell (646-3228)
to arrange an appointment. There is usually someone available to give
demonstrations from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
Lounge furniture and office furniture (desks, credenzas, bookcases, files,
chairs etc.) should be ordered through Denise Rowell. It is not to be ordered
through Boise Cascade
