As a part of the diversity initiative, a Provost Diversity Fund has been established to provide mini-grants to support diversity initiatives within the Provost Division. Within the context of the current budget situation, we have decided to protect this funding to maintain support in this critical area.
The mini-grants may be used to provide matching funds of up to $1,000 to seed diversity enhancement projects and programs. The funds can also be used to support professional development opportunities for exempt and non-exempt employee attendance at conferences, workshops and other training sessions relating to diversity and intergroup relations and relevant to the employee's job at Dartmouth.
Proposals for mini-grants may take any form, but should include a brief statement of the project's purpose, scope and intended audience as well as the amount of internal funding already identified. Project proposals may be submitted by an individual or a department/unit. For professional development programs, interested employees should submit a letter of request to the Provost's Office indicating which program they would like to attend and the required level of matching funds, as well as a cover letter of support from their direct supervisor.
Requests must be received by the Provost's Office by the deadline indicated below.
- Fall term deadline: October 1, 2004 (decisions - October 15)
- Winter term deadline: January 14, 2005 (decisions - January 28)
- Spring term deadline: April 8, 2005 (decisions - April 22)
- Summer term deadline: July 1, 2005 (decisions - July 15)
